Donate Eight is a non-profit organization that was founded by members of the New York City Real Estate, Building Management and Building Service community in response to the immediate need to increase organ donation awareness and registration.
Why “Donate Eight”? It is possible for one registered individual to donate up to eight life-saving organs: heart, liver, kidneys, lungs, pancreas, and intestines. Donations of eyes and tissues can improve the lives of over 50 individuals.
Donate Eight is associated with LiveOnNY. Founded in 1978, LiveOnNY is the second largest of the nation’s 58 nonprofit, federally designated organ procurement organizations. Through their work with transplant centers and hospitals, they coordinate organ, tissue, and eye donations for transplant. They are dedicated to increasing awareness and fostering an understanding of organ and tissue donations in the New York Metropolitan area, which serves over 13 million people.
