Through the generous donations we raise each year at our Spring Gala, Donate Eight provides funding for programs developed and supported by LiveOnNY Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to LiveOnNY’s core mission of increasing the number of lives saved through education, spreading public awareness about the Gift of Life, financial assistance and social work support to donor families and transplant recipients, and support for living donation.
The Marino Prodan Legacy Award. Now in its second year, the fund supports 10 children each year who have lost a parent, sibling or other close relative who gave the gift of life to others. Parents can use the $2,500 grant to help fund a variety of needs – including their child’s education, summer camp, medical or therapy expenses.
Donate Eight Simulation Center. Unveiled in 2024, this cutting-edge Simulation Center will elevate training and education for both Clinical Operations staff and the public, focusing on the lifesaving process of organ donation. The center includes a fully equipped mock operating room and ICU, designed to train employees in donor case management in a controlled, immersive environment.
LiveOnNY/Donate Eight “Ya Gotta Have Heart” Grant to Harboring Hearts. Now in its seventh year, the fund has provided financially needy heart and liver as well as pediatric kidney transplant patients and their families temporary housing, food and transportation during hospital stays and medical appointment pre- and post-transplant.
The Amanda Forsythe Gift of Life Transport Service. We continue to support grieving donor families by escorting them to and from the hospital or funeral home, offering guidance and compassion during this difficult time.
The LiveOnNY Foundation “Victoria’s 5K Run for Life”. Now in its 5th year, this run helps to raise awareness and honor 26-year-old Staten Island organ donor Victoria McDonnell.
“Kinsey’s Kidney Adventure”. Published a children’s book about a 5-year-old Queens girl who bravely endured dialysis and got a life-saving kidney from an anonymous living donor. Eighty percent of the book sale proceeds go to Kinsey’s medical and college fund. The book has been read to thousands of kids in schools and pediatric hospitals all over New York to help educate families and allay fears about donation.
LiveOnNY NYC Marathon & TD Five Borough Bike Tour Teams. Supported teams in their efforts to increase awareness about organ donation.
“Marcy’s Gift”. Established a scholarship program for college-bound high school students to promote awareness of organ and tissue donation.
